As a Catholic writer, I want to move past the alienation found in an obsession with polemics. I want to balance the battles of our day with a theological understanding that is focused on our eschatological end. I don't want the world to think that Catholics think their faith is primarily political. In fact, that isn't even our first priority. Our first priority is holiness within the worshiping community, which is the Church. I am married to a wonderful and devoted husband. We have one beautiful daughter. I am a cradle Catholic who had a few moments off the path. I am now a devoted Roman Catholic who is working through the path of holiness in my vocation of wife, mother, and student theologian. I am thankful for all Our Lord does in my life and how he is guiding me. I love my family and friends. I love my Church. I enjoy gardening with my husband, photography, studying, learning the art of prayer, cooking, playing with my daughter, taking walks and running when I can force myself to. I am here to share my story of how Christ is guiding me to holiness. It is a path I walk with fear and trembling, but also overwhelmed with joy. I don't get it right most days, but the path to sanctity takes a lifetime. Some mornings I am drinking a warm pumpkin latte and the next trying to fight being addicted to coffee. I am healing from loss the loss of three babies in miscarriage and learning from my mistakes. My husband and daughter are the greatest gifts I could possibly be given and as unworthy as I am, they are how Our Lord works most directly in my life. I like to write about the Faith, motherhood, studying theology, my hobbies, my struggles, and just about the journey. I am a freelance writer and I am a regular contributor at Catholic Exchange. After years of self-study, I am finally working on my graduate studies in Theology and Philosophy. My classes fill me with awe and wonder. What an amazing gift God has given me through my intellectual abilities. I am so excited to grow in a deeper knowledge of God through prayer and formal study! Thanks for stopping by and may Our Lord bless you always.

Third Week of Advent Reflection: Needing a Savior

We have made it more than half way through Advent.  Next week we will celebrate the Feast of the Nativity and begin the Christmas season.  Our joy is even greater, as we passed through Gaudete (rejoice) Sunday.  We are nearing the end of this season of waiting in joyful hope, although, we wait in joyful …

Praying While Writing Christmas Cards

This is a busy time of year, but it is a holy time of year. Writing Christmas cards can become a burden and be done in a hurried or impersonal way. I have found great joy in praying for each person or family as I write their Christmas card. My message is short and is …

A Few of My Favorite Books-Sleety December Day Version

It is a gray and dreary day here with a mix of rain and sleet.  This type of day makes me think about my favorite books.  It is the perfect kind of day to tuck in with a favorite book and a peppermint mocha.  Yeah, still working on that coffee addiction.  Thank Our Lord for …

Liturgical Living: Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

I am slowly starting to incorporate the liturgical calendar into our lives.  My husband and I did not grow up that way, so we are learning as we go.  Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Since I work in pro-life ministry and help women in crisis pregnancy, she is very dear to …

Falling Short and Conquering Sin

I am having one of those days in Motherhood and as a Christian when "I do the very thing I hate" to quote Saint Paul.  I have allowed little things and my own failures drag me down.  That is what the Devil wants.  He would rather I wallow in self-pity rather than ask The Lord …

Second Sunday of Advent Reflection: Lonely vs Lowly

Last night I went to the Saturday Vigil Mass for the Second Sunday of Advent. A part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist really struck me. I actually misheard our priest who has a Nigerian accent and that mishearing really hit me. During the anaphora, or Eucharistic Prayer, there is a portion in the preface …

Saying “No” to Santa

I am going to open up this can of worms for the second year in a row. I am having an honest struggle with Santa Claus. I was raised with my parents doing Santa Claus. I can remember thinking that I heard sleigh bells when I was five years old, waiting in anticipation for Christmas …
