As a Catholic writer, I want to move past the alienation found in an obsession with polemics. I want to balance the battles of our day with a theological understanding that is focused on our eschatological end. I don't want the world to think that Catholics think their faith is primarily political. In fact, that isn't even our first priority. Our first priority is holiness within the worshiping community, which is the Church. I am married to a wonderful and devoted husband. We have one beautiful daughter. I am a cradle Catholic who had a few moments off the path. I am now a devoted Roman Catholic who is working through the path of holiness in my vocation of wife, mother, and student theologian. I am thankful for all Our Lord does in my life and how he is guiding me. I love my family and friends. I love my Church. I enjoy gardening with my husband, photography, studying, learning the art of prayer, cooking, playing with my daughter, taking walks and running when I can force myself to. I am here to share my story of how Christ is guiding me to holiness. It is a path I walk with fear and trembling, but also overwhelmed with joy. I don't get it right most days, but the path to sanctity takes a lifetime. Some mornings I am drinking a warm pumpkin latte and the next trying to fight being addicted to coffee. I am healing from loss the loss of three babies in miscarriage and learning from my mistakes. My husband and daughter are the greatest gifts I could possibly be given and as unworthy as I am, they are how Our Lord works most directly in my life. I like to write about the Faith, motherhood, studying theology, my hobbies, my struggles, and just about the journey. I am a freelance writer and I am a regular contributor at Catholic Exchange. After years of self-study, I am finally working on my graduate studies in Theology and Philosophy. My classes fill me with awe and wonder. What an amazing gift God has given me through my intellectual abilities. I am so excited to grow in a deeper knowledge of God through prayer and formal study! Thanks for stopping by and may Our Lord bless you always.

Catholic Exchange: When Advent Feels More Like Lent

This time of year can present challenges to all of us as we approach the Christmas season. More and more Catholics are trying to slow down and enter into the period of waiting and preparation in the Advent season. As the secular Christmas season continues to spiral out of control, a lot of people are …

Come Christmas, Don’t Shoot the Messenger

Sacred Scripture is filled with unlikely messengers. Men and women who are never the "right" messenger. They are too old, too young, too male, too female, not from the right town, not a priest, they are a priest, not a king, they are a king. There's always something wrong with them according to their listeners. …

The Answer to Division is Charity, Forgiveness, and Communion

Image taken from Wiki Commons I've been spending this Advent trying to enter into stillness and waiting. I am very bad at both. I'm a person of action, so being told that I'm to sit still and wait for God's mission for me has been difficult. It's felt more like a wrestling match than stillness. …

Advent Talk: Preparing for the Comings of Christ Through Charity and Mercy

I recently presented an Advent talk to my parish on preparing for the comings of Christ by growing in charity and mercy. I will be adding more video content as time goes on. I hope you have a very blessed Advent! P.S. I know some of my thoughts only apply to those of us in …

Catholic Exchange: Our Need for Stillness in Advent

The liturgical year, in union with creation, often shows us what we need most throughout the year. We begin Advent and the new liturgical year in late fall. It is a time when those of us in the northern hemisphere experience stillness, quiet, and a sense of waiting in creation. The trees are bare and …

Teaching My Daughter Why Charity is Worth the Fight

My daughter looks almost entirely like my husband, except for the shape of her eyes and the freckles that dot across her cheeks and nose. She isn't a fan of the freckles because no one else in her class has them, but I told her she got them from me and that God made her …

In a Time of Great Scandal, Remember God Works in the Quiet Places

For the past month, I've been struggling mightily with the failures of priests in the Church, not just the abusers and our leaders, but the fact that times like these often lead to more collateral damage because the Enemy seeks to divide and wound even more in the aftermath of such revelations. He likes to …

The Cross: The Answer We Don’t Really Want

The entire litmus test for this life is the very one we don't want. It's love or charity (caritas). It is the very meaning of our lives. It is what grounds every moment of every day, but even as we say it's what we want, we are also repelled by it. Why? Love always costs …

The Struggle to Write as God Intensifies My Spiritual Life

I have received quite a few emails and comments from readers encouraging me to keep writing. I've read every single one of them even if I didn't get a chance to respond to you personally. I greatly appreciate your messages! The past few months have been a time of rather intense and immense spiritual growth …
