As a Catholic writer, I want to move past the alienation found in an obsession with polemics. I want to balance the battles of our day with a theological understanding that is focused on our eschatological end. I don't want the world to think that Catholics think their faith is primarily political. In fact, that isn't even our first priority. Our first priority is holiness within the worshiping community, which is the Church. I am married to a wonderful and devoted husband. We have one beautiful daughter. I am a cradle Catholic who had a few moments off the path. I am now a devoted Roman Catholic who is working through the path of holiness in my vocation of wife, mother, and student theologian. I am thankful for all Our Lord does in my life and how he is guiding me. I love my family and friends. I love my Church. I enjoy gardening with my husband, photography, studying, learning the art of prayer, cooking, playing with my daughter, taking walks and running when I can force myself to. I am here to share my story of how Christ is guiding me to holiness. It is a path I walk with fear and trembling, but also overwhelmed with joy. I don't get it right most days, but the path to sanctity takes a lifetime. Some mornings I am drinking a warm pumpkin latte and the next trying to fight being addicted to coffee. I am healing from loss the loss of three babies in miscarriage and learning from my mistakes. My husband and daughter are the greatest gifts I could possibly be given and as unworthy as I am, they are how Our Lord works most directly in my life. I like to write about the Faith, motherhood, studying theology, my hobbies, my struggles, and just about the journey. I am a freelance writer and I am a regular contributor at Catholic Exchange. After years of self-study, I am finally working on my graduate studies in Theology and Philosophy. My classes fill me with awe and wonder. What an amazing gift God has given me through my intellectual abilities. I am so excited to grow in a deeper knowledge of God through prayer and formal study! Thanks for stopping by and may Our Lord bless you always.

Why I Temporarily Gave Up Politics

Last summer I made the decision to finally pursue my Master's degree in Theology. My VA benefits expire in September 2015 and I could get in just under the wire to pay for the whole program.  In making that decision, I decided that in order to succeed and get the best out of the program …

Small Success Thursday: Lent and School

Today I am going to take a break from my series on sinful anger to participate in CatholicMom.com's Small Success Thursdays.  I will say that beginning my Lenten series on sinful anger is a small success for this week.  For those of you who have struggled with anger at different periods of your life, I …

Lenten Journey: Anger and Control Part II

Now that we have worked to identify what triggers we have that cause us anger, let's look at the fact that these are all tied to some form of control.  Usually anger arises out of a desire to control someone's feelings i.e. we want them to be sorry for what they did to us.  The …

Lenten Journey: Dealing with Sinful Anger Part I

I have a confession to make:  I really struggle with sinful anger.  I don't just mean that I get angry in the sense of the passion.  I mean that I struggle with rage and the desire for vengeance at certain times.  It is one of the reasons that you will find me in the confessional …

Why Baptism during Lent?

This past Sunday's readings were a strange connection of Baptism and the desert (for the Western Church).  We heard about the flood when God wiped out the evil of the world and saved eight righteous people.  Yes, the narrative is a pre-figurement of Baptism.  The waters of the flood cleanse the earth. We also see …

Finding Quiet During Lent

Our world is noisy.  Even when we are sitting in silence in front our computers (as I am doing right now), it is still noisy.  I don't mean the keys on the keyboard or the gentle hum of the fan.  I mean the pictures, articles, debates, violence, etc.  It is never ending.  It is a …

Me in a Metaphor-New Blog

I love to write.  I just lack the discipline and time to write every single day.  I am a Catholic, wife, mom, and full-time graduate student.  I am also slowly learning how to be a disciple of Our Lord's.  I have tried my hand at various blogs.  They never seem to really reflect who I …

Small Success Thursday: Going Outside of My Comfort Zone

This past week has been a challenge for me in that it required me to go outside of my comfort zone multiple times.  The first was completion of my first graduate level Final test.  Undergraduate was not a challenge for me at all.  I spent a lot of my time bored.  Part of starting my …

The Need for Masculinity in the Church

Recently I have read two excellent posts on the need for masculinity within the Church.  One was by Monsignor Pope and the other by a Dominican Friar calling men to the Priesthood.  I personally see both the Priesthood and men within the Church as an important balance to the "feminine genius" that St. John Paul …

Christian Living: Binding the Wounds of Our Neighbors

We walk this earth broken, ravaged by sin.  Each of us carries deep hurts from our experiences with other people.  It could be family, friends, work, church, etc.  Wherever there are people there is such brokenness.  The problem for each one of us is that we forget that fact.  We become blinded by our own …
